About George Yuska

George F. Yuska, focuses his practice in the areas of civil and criminal litigation.  He is an attorney in both New York and New Jersey. Prior to establishing his own Law Office, he co-founded the law firm of Gaylord & Yuska, LLC and Gaylord, Yuska and Rubinstein, LLC. Mr. Yuska spent six (6) years as an attorney with Stark & Stark, a highly regarded Princeton New Jersey law firm,  practicing civil and commercial litigation while heading the firm's criminal litigation practice.    

Before  entering private practice, Mr. Yuska served ten (10) years as a New York City Assistant District Attorney and New Jersey Deputy Attorney General.  While serving as an Assistant District Attorney, he prosecuted a wide array of criminal offenses which included, but were not limited to, narcotics offenses, burglaries, robberies, assaults, sexual offenses, organized crime cases and homicides.  Mr. Yuska also served as a prosecutor with the elite Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor in Manhattan, prosecuting major narcotics offenses in all five New York City boroughs. From 1994 through 1995, he served as the supervising Unit Chief to the Narcotics Division of the Richmond County (Staten Island) District Attorney’s Office.  From 1995 through 1998, Mr. Yuska served as a Deputy Attorney General with the Division of Criminal Justice, Organized Crime and Racketeering Bureau, prosecuting various organized crime families of La Cosa Nostra throughout New Jersey.  These efforts received national attention in an investigation and prosecution named “Operation Breakers”.

George Yuska has appeared as a guest criminal panelist and commentator on the Rauol Felder Metro Law television program of the New York City Metro Cable network, the New Jersey 101.5 “Carton and Rossi radio show” and “In the Public Interest” Radio (WIMG 1300) and Television (WZBN, Trenton) shows. He has also been featured in the Bergen Record, Staten Island Advance, Trentonian and Trenton Times.  Mr. Yuska has prosecuted and defended cases that have received regional and national press coverage in various newspapers that include, but are not limited to, the New York Times, Baltimore Sun, New York Post, New Jersey Monthly Magazine and Star Ledger.

 

George Yuska has received an “AV Rating” in Martindale and Hubbell Rating Services after an extensive and confidential peer review by members of the Bar Association and Judiciary. The AV rating, the highest attainable by an attorney, identifies a lawyer as having very high to preeminent legal ability and is a reflection of that attorney’s expertise, experience, integrity and overall professional excellence.  He has repetitively been named to "Top Lawyers in New Jersey" (The Legal Network) , "New Jersey's Top Legal Minds" (Inside New Jersey) and "The National Trial Lawyers Top 100  Trial Lawyers."

Mr. Yuska has two children.  He has served as a Board member and Vice President to the Brandon Farms Property Owners Association.  Mr. Yuska has also coached Cal Ripkin /Babe Ruth recreational, travel and all-star baseball teams that have included a 2003 & 2004 New Jersey Southern State Championship team and 2004 US Eastern Regional tournament runner up team.  Mr. Yuska was also involved in Pop Warner Football and was part of a team of coaches that guided the Hopewell Bulldogs Junior Pee-Wee Team to the 2003 New Jersey State Championship and US Eastern Regional Tournament semi-finals.

 

George Yuska was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He resided in New York City, Princeton New Jersey  and the greater Philadelphia area from 1989 through 2017.  He recently returned to his hometown of Rochester where he continues to practice law. George Yuska recently wrote his first novel, The Club, a true and inspirational story about the members of the 1981 St. John Fisher football team and the miracle mountain they climbed while overcaming adversity and tragedy that almost ended the St. John Fisher football program. He attended St. John Fisher College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. He graduated with honors.  Mr. Yuska played Varsity Collegiate Football and was a member of a 1981 NCFA National Championship Football Team.  In 1982, he was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team as an offensive running back.  Mr. Yuska attended the University of Dayton-School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1988.  His interests include sports, golf, and culinary arts.
